Club training week-end was a blast!

The club training week-end was a success, thanks to all who could attend!

Day 1 - duathlon in Corkagh park

We started in Corkagh park (D22) for a transition 2 training, followed by some cornering and group riding exercises, all lead by head coach Sean Farrell. Finally we had a fun duathlon after which multiple prizes were awarded!

Day 2 - workshops, swim and social

The second day started early with some tea and scones at the National Aquatic Centre (D15). Our special guests Neil O’Brien and Danny Roe presented two workshops to discuss nutrition in training and racing, as well as the science behind training. Now you now that chocolate milk is a good preworkout, and that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell!

After a quick break, we had a 90 minutes swim session with open-water specific drills and some sprinting fun at the end. A quick lunch at the NAC cafe, then Derek Humphries from Humphries Cycle gave numerous tips on how to properly maintain a roadbike, and avoid mechanical issues in the long run.

At the end of the day, we all gathered in Bonobo’s in Dublin 7 for some well deserved pizzas and beers!
