ππββοΈ Wednesday Open Water Training at Clontarf Baths! π§‘
Wednesday evenings are for embracing the elementsβ¦ and reminding ourselves that Irish open water swimming builds character π
Our weekly swim sessions at Clontarf Outdoor Pool give our athletes the chance to train in real open water conditions β a 40m tidal seawater pool, with wetsuits on, cold water, and all the little details that make race day feel familiar. Because open water swimming is not just about swimming straightβ¦ if only it was that simple! π
Todayβs session focused on the skills that make the difference in a triathlon: swimming in a group, sighting from different positions, drafting, buoy turns, and changing pace for those important race starts and exits. Lots of drills, lots of learning, and plenty of teamwork in the water ππͺ
We were lucky enough to have a beautiful Dublin evening around 7β8pm βοΈ (around 18Β°C air temperature), but the sea was still there to remind us whoβs in chargeβ¦ with the water sitting around a much cooler 12β14Β°C π₯Άπ
Some brave (or slightly crazy) members even extended the session with a short run afterwards β either to warm up, practise their aquathlon skills, or simply prove they hadnβt suffered enough yet πββοΈπ
Fancy giving open water a try? Come join us β great training, great people, and guaranteed stories afterwards π§‘
