🌊🏊♀️ Wednesday Open Water Training at Clontarf Baths! 🧡
Wednesday evenings are for embracing the elements… and reminding ourselves that Irish open water swimming builds character 😅
Our weekly swim sessions at Clontarf Outdoor Pool give our athletes the chance to train in real open water conditions — a 40m tidal seawater pool, with wetsuits on, cold water, and all the little details that make race day feel familiar. Because open water swimming is not just about swimming straight… if only it was that simple! 😉
Today’s session focused on the skills that make the difference in a triathlon: swimming in a group, sighting from different positions, drafting, buoy turns, and changing pace for those important race starts and exits. Lots of drills, lots of learning, and plenty of teamwork in the water 🌊💪
We were lucky enough to have a beautiful Dublin evening around 7–8pm ☀️ (around 18°C air temperature), but the sea was still there to remind us who’s in charge… with the water sitting around a much cooler 12–14°C 🥶😂
Some brave (or slightly crazy) members even extended the session with a short run afterwards — either to warm up, practise their aquathlon skills, or simply prove they hadn’t suffered enough yet 🏃♀️😄
Fancy giving open water a try? Come join us — great training, great people, and guaranteed stories afterwards 🧡
