Beginner bike sessions to start on Sat 02/03

We are starting the beginner bike sessions on Saturday 02/03 in Phoenix Park, coached by Sean Farrell! If you are new to cycling and would like to learn more, make sure to join.

Each session is weather dependent and we will update you the evening before should we need to reschedule or cancel.

ALL participants must be a club member.

Please bring:

  • a bike - any bike in good working condition is fine, it does not have to be a roadbike!

  • A helmet

  • Warm clothing, such as beanie hats under helmet, gloves, base layer, jackets etc. If you dont have cycling shorts/tights, use a warm tracksuit bottom. We could be standing talking/discussing for periods!

  • Any pedal type, clip in or toe clip or flat pedal

  • Runners for everyone. The drills are best with runners even if on clip in pedals (prevents non clip out falls !)

  • Water bottle or sports drink

Session 1 - Phoenix Park Sat 3rd March @10am, Papal Cross car park

  • Your bike, its parts and components, what each component is used for, bike size and fit, bike types.

  • Braking, gear selection, cadence

Session 2 - Phoenix Park Sun 10th March @10am, Papal Cross car park

  • Recap on session 1

  • Cornering and control

  • Intro to group riding

Session 3 - Phoenix Park Sat 23rd March @10am, Papal Cross car park

  • Recap on session 1 and 2

  • Group riding, hill climbing

  • Intro to clip in pedals

These sessions will be followed by group cycling Sundays starting from Phoenix Park.
